It is used when a very stiff product with high tensile and compressive strength (both greater than steel) is required. It has weak shear strength and is not impact resistant. It is best used, when making parts that need to be light weight but are under high stress. It is more expensive than cloth, but replaces several layers of cloth in terms of strength. When well done, the finished product makes a beautiful looking part such as a car hood. Use only with epoxy resins. This item is sold by the linear yard. Multiple yards will be cut as one length. -

S-Cloth is made with a different coating from E-Cloth which makes it about 20% stronger in tensile strength than regular glass and stiffer. It also has a more satin finish. However, it is more expensive. S-Cloth 9oz per sq yard 60″ wide sold by linear yard. -
The least expensive, mat is made of strands of glass, randomly laid out to provide multi-directional strength. Once wetted out it conforms well to shapes. It will make the stiffest laminate, but, it is the weakest. Often, first a layer of mat is laid down then a cloth or woving, then a layer of mat and so on. The procedure insures the stiffness of mat with the tensile strength of cloth. Alternating mat and cloth also insures a good bond between layers of cloth, especially the heavier ones. Coarse fiberglass roving in a plain weave. High strength and thickness for a laminate. Lamination of woven roving to woven roving do not bond well. Always apply a layer of mat between layers on roving. Sold by the liner yard -
A general purpose polyester (fiberglass) resin. Our resins are purchased direct from major reputable suppliers and are consistent in quality and performance. Waxed resin has wax added to it which rises to the top during curing, seals off the air and leaves the cured surface smooth and hard. Requires 1-2% (or about 5-10 drops per oz) MEKP catalyst.
