A thickened high quality resin, designed to top coat fiberglass lamination. Gelcoats give a better look and protection to the fiberglass underneath. Dyes can be added to change color. Clear Polycarbonate (Often referred to as their brand names such as "Lexan” or “Makrolon") POLYCARBONATE is different from acrylic; polycarbonate is almost unbreakable, if hit it will dent but it will not break. This quality makes it a bit softer and less rigid than acrylic. It is not very UV stable. With the UV stabilizers in a the general purpose grade, In sunlight it has life of 5 to 10 years. Further UV treated versions are available by special order. It is lighter than glass, but will scratch more easily than acrylic or glass. -
